Adventurous Quotes On Traveling And Exploring The World

There is a big difference between going on a vacation and an adventure, so when the time comes and we are ready to get back on an airplane, here are some words to get you excited.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.

Let’s wander where the wifi is weak.

We must take adventures in order to know where we truly belong.

Travel as much as you can, as far as you can, as long as you can. Life is not meant to be lived in just one place.

You don’t need magic to disappear. All you need is a destination.

Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.

Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show.

I do believe it’s time for another adventure.

Better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times.

Collect moments, not things.

We must take adventure in order to know where we truly belong.

Let’s find some beautiful place to get lost.

Life was meant for good friends and great adventure.

I would rather own little and see the world than to own the world and see little of it.

The world is a playground, somewhere along the way everyone forgets it.

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.

Life is about moments, don’t wait for them, create them.

If traveling was free, you’d never see me again.

Live with no excuses and travel with no regrets.

Explore the unseen. Adventure awaits.

The weirdest foods from around the world

If you love trying new cuisines and are happy to give almost anything a go, then be sure to sample these foods which are considered some of the strangest in the world.

Sannakji from South Korea

This South Korean delicacy consists of live octopus eaten either whole or in pieces depending on the size of the specimen. Served raw and usually only with a splash of sesame oil, it’s so fresh that the tentacles are still squirming and, if you thought that was scary, the suckers from the octopus can attach themselves inside the throat of the consumer causing choking or even death.

Escamoles from Mexico

This dish is not a grain salad, but actually made up of ant larvae. Often called insect caviar, escamoles are considered a delicacy in Mexican cuisine and consumption dates back to the Aztecs. Eggs are harvested from the root systems of the maguey and agave plants, and the tiny larvae can be found in tacos, omelettes or just on their own.

Hakarl from Iceland

Imagine earing rotten shark which has fermented and decayed? This is what the Icelandic do! Once the fish becomes edible, Icelanders eat their Hakarl year round, and the rotten fish is stocked, vacuum packed, in regular supermarkets.

Fried Brain Sandwiches from the U.S.A.

This sandwich is made from sliced calves or pig brains that have been heavily battered and deep fried, and comes from the German and Dutch immigrants who were keen on eliminating any sort of waste. This sandwich is typically served accompanied with mustard and pickled onions.

Casu Marzu from Italy

This Sardinian cheese is made from fresh maggots by allowing flies to lay eggs on the surface of Pecorino cheese that has had the top cut off. When the eggs hatch, the larvae eat through the cheese breaking down the fats and softening the usually hard middle. Strong and rich, the aftertaste of this pungent cheese lasts for hours.

Cool Facts About Canada

There are so many incredible facts about Canada. Here are just a few really cool things you likely didn’t know about the Great White North.

Canada has the world’s longest coastline

Did you know it would take you four-and-a-half years to walk the length of Canada’s coastline? And, it is bordered on three sides by three different oceans: the Atlantic, Arctic and Pacific. This alone accounts for 202,080 of the world’s total 356,000 kilometres of oceanfront property.

Canada has 10 per cent of the world’s forests

Yes we have plenty of trees, but we also boast 30 per cent of the world’s boreal forest and 10 per cent of the world’s total forest cover. An incredible 396.9-million hectares of forest and other wooded land can be found across the country, and 68 per cent of that is coniferous.

Canada has the only walled city in North America

Quebec City is the only city north of Mexico that still has fortified walls, first built by the French and later the English between the 17th and the 19th centuries. Quebec’s entire historic district, including the ramparts, has since been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Canada has more oil than you think

Canada has an estimated 176.8 billion recoverable barrels of oil in Canada’s oil sands. Canada has about 70.8 per cent of the world’s oil, which is six times more than Russia.

Canada’s national parks are bigger than most countries

Nahanni National Park Reserve in the Northwest Territories not only has massive waterfalls, but it’s also an incredible 30,050 square kilometres—bigger than Albania and Israel. Wood Buffalo National Park in Alberta and the Northwest Territories is even bigger at 44,807 square kilometres, which makes it bigger than Denmark and Switzerland.

Reasons Why You Should go Backpacking Today

If the travel bug has hit and you’re starting to feel the itch to go somewhere, there’s no better way to scratch that itch than to go backpacking! Here are four of the many reasons why you should go backpacking today:

It’ll broaden your horizons. Backpacking will open your eyes to a set of experiences you never thought possible, and it’ll introduce you to places and people you never thought you’d see or meet.

It builds confidence. Backpacking can be a scary experience at times, especially when you’re going solo. But confronting those fears more often than not lead to incredibly rewarding experiences, and once you’ve conquered those fears you build a sense of confidence the likes of which you’ve never known before!

It offers a whole lot of flexibility. When you have just about everything you need on your back and no fixed schedule, there’s no limit to all the amazing places you can go and all the incredible things you can see. All it takes is a backpack and a sense of adventure, and the world is yours to discover.

You’ll make lifelong friends. Backpacking attracts a special breed of people, those who crave adventure and the unknown, and it’s those very same people you meet while backpacking that often become your best friends. You may not always be in the same part of the world, but the deep connections you make mean you’ll always keep in touch, no matter where you are.

Real Life Adventure Books Adventurers Love to Read

When it comes to your next adventurous read, who better than adventurers to recommend their favorite books? Here are two adventure books well worth the read, and what a couple of adventurers had to say about them.

The Worst Journey In The World (1922) by Apsley Cherry-Garrard. Does the thought of three men hauling 300 kilos through the Polar wilderness in -70ÂșC sound like a good time to you? We didn’t think so. Yet the narrator, a young member of Captain Scott's expedition team, managed to describe the event with the dry wit that only the British could be known for.

Ben Saunders, polar explorer, had this to say: "It's an epic tale of suffering and derring-do," says Saunders. "The New York Review Of Books said it was, 'To travel, what War And Peace is to the novel – a masterpiece.' I'd go along with that!"

The Kon-Tiki Expedition (1950) by Thor Heyerdahl. In 1947 Thor Heyerdahl and his companions sailed 4,300 miles from Peru towards Polynesia in an attempt to prove that the Pacific was settled from the West. And for authenticity’s sake, they did it on a primitive raft like the kind the aboriginals would have used.

Tom Avery, author of To The End Of The Earth, had this to say about it: "I read it as a boy, and recently re-read it. Six men crossing the Earth's largest ocean on a balsa raft? Surely the most inspiring adventure story ever told."
